With over eight million tons of e-waste being created in Canada each year and the worldwide amount of e-waste expected to reach 59.6 million tons this year, it is important that individuals and companies start to take recycling electrical products more seriously. If just one million cell phones were recycled, hundreds of pounds of copper, silver, gold, and palladium could be recovered. That is a lot of toxic material that can cause health and environmental problems if not properly dispersed of. Recycling a million laptops could save the energy equivalent of electricity used up by 3,657 Canadian homes each year.
