Pigs Helped President Trump Win the Trade War

Over the past couple years the United States and China have engaged in a brutal trade war. Last year saw a rise in African Swine Fever which wiped out around half of the domestic pig herd across China. China is the biggest global producer and consumer of pork. With their domestic pork supply shrinking prices of pork doubled in 2019, forcing China to need to relax their tariffs on US goods, leading to Trump gaining the upper hand and winning the trade war.
