All of these are covered by the National Park System, which is celebrating its 100th year of service on August 25th. The National Parks System was first established in 1916 when President Woodrow Wilson signed an act of congress. Since then, the National Park System has grown tremendously, now covering more than 84 million acres and 410 different sites. In 2015, over 307 million people recreationally visited areas within the National Park System.
